Inside: Studio 189 in Z-Brand Spotlight

šŸ‘‹šŸ½ EDITORā€™S NOTE

Iā€™ve been away briefly to recoup and process things that needed processing and Iā€™m happy to be back. A number of interesting things have since taken shape at the HQ: the sixth edition of the Kenga Magazine was published and just this week, our campus editor program was launched.

If youā€™re just hearing about the Campus Program, it is our way of meeting our prime brand audience where they are ā€“ right on campuses! This program seeks to provide creative guidance and mentorship for Africaā€™s largest demographic while representing our publication on campus, contributing to editorial projects and creating alongside peers from around the world.

The plan for this program is all shades of exciting and you shouldnā€™t sit this out. Check out the section below to see the requirements and apply. Deadline is December 1st, 2023. Share this opportunity with your friends and invite them to join.

šŸ„³Ā Z BRAND OF THE WEEK

Studio One Eighty Nine, co-founded by Rosario Dawson and Abrima Erwiah, is an artisan-produced fashion lifestyle brand and a social enterprise. The brand collaborates closely with artisanal communities in Africa to produce their pieces, thus showcasing the artisansā€™ mastery of various traditional craftsmanship techniques, and the rich heritage of kente weaving, among others.

Studio 189's core mission revolves around empowerment, job creation, education, and skills training. The brand just recently presented its SS24 collection that placed a strong emphasis on both African culture and its vibrant, inspired content and clothing at the just concluded NYFW in New York.
