This week, a video of the Dalai Lama's inappropriate interaction with a young boy surfaced online. The incident happened in February but was only recently leaked, causing controversy and social media opinions. Cardi B even accused him of being a predator. The Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, has apologised publicly. But a Tibetan leader, Mr Tsering, defended his actions and claimed he was 'unfairly labelled'.

Society tends to ignore and conceal predatory behaviour when it involves certain religious authorities, particularly in communities where the hierarchy is ordained and considered infallible. This perpetuates a culture of silence and complicity, allowing predators to continue their abusive behaviour. All communities, religious or not, should prioritise protecting children from abuse.
